Celebrating Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo 2022

The Italian Cultural & Community Center (ICCC) partnered with Accademia Italiana della Cucina and Davanti Ristorante to celebrate the 7th Annual Week of Italian Cuisine in the World.

The ICCC invited guests to the Milford House for an informative lecture on Conviviality, Sustainability, Innovation: the ingredients of Italian cuisine to keep us healthy and protect the Planet. Introductory remarks were made by Consul General of Italy Mauro Lorenzini. He then introduced Pier Paolo Veroni (Phd, MBA), Adjunct Professor of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Dr. Veroni of Accademia Italiana della Cucina spoke about fresh ingredients commonly found in Italian cuisine and their benefit to our health and the Earth.

Throughout the lecture, guests ate delicious food cooked by Chef Roberto Crescini of Davanti Ristorante. On the menu was durum wheat croutons with pesto and pizzaiola, cured meats and cheeses (ham, coppa, and salami), grilled vegetables, small cheese cakes, mini rice croquettes, pizza, and mozzarella skewers with grape tomatoes and basil. For dessert, guests savored mini-Sicilian cannoli and mini almond cakes.

Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo is an annual week-long celebration to showcase and promote Italy and Italian cuisine, culinary traditions and food-and-wine connoisseurship. The initiative was launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the Italian Trade Agency and the Italian Cultural Institutes abroad. It’s aimed at also encouraging export, internationalization, and inbound tourism, through dedicated and targeted events in Italian Embassies, Consulates, Cultural Institutes, and ICE agencies. Talks, cultural events, and dinners are hosted by Italian Embassies worldwide.
