Celebrating International Women’s Day With Italian Flair

The Italian Cultural & Community Center (ICCC) partnered with San Pellegrino Italian Sparkling Drinks and Acqua Panna to celebrate International Women’s Day with Italian flair on Thursday, March 10, 2022. The ICCC commemorated strong women around the world by filling the Milford House with beautiful mimosa flower arrangements. The mimosa flower is one of the symbolic flowers associated with International Women’s Day, also known as Festa Della Donna in Italy.
Congratulations to the First Study Abroad Scholarship Recipient!

The Italian Cultural & Community Center is proud to announce the first recipient of the Study Abroad Scholarship. The winner is Jessica Ortega. Jessica has a Bachelor of Arts in Italian and a minor in Business Administration from the University of Houston and is currently enrolled at the University of Houston studying for her Master of Arts in World Cultures with an Italian Concentration.
Ilaria Verunelli (1982-2022) – May She Rest In Peace

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I would like to share with you the sudden passing of our dear instructor Ilaria Verunelli. Ilaria will be terribly missed by all of us here at the Center. We met her as an instructor and she left as a dear friend. We want to remember her with the lines of her favorite Italian poet, Alda Merini: Che la terra ti sia fifinalmente lieve

Celebrating the Jewels of Italy – ICCC Fashion Show and Luncheon 2022

Join us for the third annual Italian Cultural & Community Center Fashion Show and Luncheon! Chairing the event Sandra Porter and Gina Gusemano Leck. This year we are Celebrating the Jewels of Italy and toasting those facets of Italy that we all know and love: the fashion, the food, the wine, the culture, its history and artistry. Italy has contributed many jewels to our city, and we will honor Rosie Carrabba as one of those gems. Our luncheon and fashion show will feature Italian designs curated by Neiman Marcus, lunch at the River Oaks Country Club, a chance to win a spectacular Italian jewel, and other exciting activities, including a silent auction which will launch online one week before the event.
