All’ICCC (At the ICCC) – July/August 2023 – Letter from Claudia Gentile Sims

Cari Amici,

Fa caldo da morire!

It’s hot as Hades outside, perfect for being indoors with the wide-ranging programs offered at ICCC. Get out of the heat and be “cool” with us.

July 11 – If you admire art but don’t want to get bogged down with academic minutiae and jargon, this talk is for you: “A Stroll Through the Uffizi” by UH teacher, Doug Erwing. Presented as “edu-tainment,” art
connoisseur, Erwing, will delight listeners with fascinating stories and insights about artists and their Italian Renaissance masterpieces featured in Florence’s famed Uffizi Gallery.

July 11 – August 1 – A new in-person Italian Conversation Class for intermediate/ advanced speakers is scheduled for Tuesday evenings.

July 19 – What would you do if you saw what the world would be like when you are no longer in it? Intrigued? Il Primo Giorno della Mia Vita (The First Day of My Life) is the story of one man who finds out… and deals with it. Watch the film with us at the ICCC as part of our 2023 Italian Contemporary Film Series.

August 13 – We’re heading into the Dog Days of Summer when nothing feels better than being inside while it’s blistering hot outside. August will be oh-so-cool and busy at ICCC. The beloved bi-monthly mass and pasta lunch will be held at 10:30 a.m. Celebrant Bishop Italo Dell’Oro, CRS. Lunch follows the mass.

August 13 – Later at 5:30 p.m., we’ll again host our very popular Ferragosto Pizza and Movie Night party. This year’s film is Tuttapposto (Letscleanapp), which audiences are sure to love, featuring Luca
Zingaretti better known to ICCC audiences as Montalbano.

August 22 – Much to the delight of our appreciative attendees, our very creative staff has hit upon the perfect elixir of content, format and price with our Aperitivo Italiano. A few words to the wise: Aperitivo Italiano is almost always sold out, so I emphasize: GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY to avoid disappointment.

Looking ahead…

September 15 – If you’d like to take advantage of the sponsorship opportunities associated with the annual Fashion Show and Luncheon, please contact the office very soon. Deadline to be included in the
publications at the various levels of sponsorship is September 15.

October 17 – Our annual Fashion Show and Luncheon with honorees Roz Pactor and Steve Tyrell, will be held at the River Oaks Country Club. This is another event that sells out early so don’t delay.

Again, it’s hot outside during the summer months, but there’s no need to sweat it. Come inside and be cool with us at the ICCC. All of the info in this letter and much more can be found at our website at www.iccchouston.com, on social media, Eventbrite, in La Voce Italiana or by calling the office for details and tickets.

I look forward to seeing you in our lovely, air-conditioned building for all these exciting events.
