Season of Giving at the ICCC

“We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” Mother Theresa

As we reach the end of another year, it is the time when many of us reflect both personally and fiscally. As you sit down to begin making your end-of-year gifts and distributions, please keep the Italian Cultural & Community Center (ICCC) in mind so that we can continue to flourish and grow and share our mission to advance, celebrate and preserve Italian culture. The ICCC plays a vital role for Italians who want to try to stay connected with their roots to Italy; to Italian-Americans who want to remember their heritage and up-bringing; and to all others who want to experience and enjoy the long-history of Italian culture.

Please help us to continue to grow and to expand our programs and activities. We look forward to you being able to take part in one or more of our many upcoming events. Experience first-hand the pride we take in executing our mission. We look forward to seeing you at the Milford House for lectures, films, wine tastings, cooking classes, language classes for both adults and children, cultural enrichment classes, the monthly Italian Mass, and the annual Houston Italian Festival.

Please consider giving to the ICCC. There are many ways to do this. Because we are a 501c3 not-for-profit organization, charitable monetary gifts to the ICCC are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. IRS Publication 526 outlines what types of donations can be deducted and how to claim a deduction. Here are just a few suggestions:

  • Your Annual Fund contribution provides you with the opportunity to secure the continued quality of our programming, staff and facility. Please remember that the Milford House has been the home of the ICCC since 1988. The Milford House will be 94 years old this year and contributions to the Annual Fund help us to maintain the property in the best fashion possible keeping in mind that the Milford House is in operation from 9 am until 9 pm or later most weekdays and is frequently used on the weekends, too. The House has witnessed its share of life’s passages: weddings, christenings, memorial services, debutante parties, birthdays, Board Installations and many other milestones. All our clubs, our language school, and a myriad of members and other constituents use it as their hub, the Houston headquarters for all things Italian.
  • In-kind donations are a terrific way to give. Does your company provide a service or a product that the ICCC needs? Check with our executive director to find the perfect pairing for your in-kind gift and our need.
  • Gift matching programs double the value of your donation. Please don’t wait to take advantage of your company’s gift matching program. If you work for many of the oil and gas companies and literally hundreds of other companies, don’t miss out on this terrific opportunity to have your donation count twice as much. This works for membership payments also. Please check with your employer if they offer a matching program, it only takes mere moments to sign up for these programs. Please don’t wait.
  • Volunteer Grants are supported by many companies. Please see if your company will match corporate dollars for volunteer hours spent by you working to help grow the ICCC.
  • AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization (ICCC) every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, Amazon will donate 0.5% of your eligible purchases to your favorite charitable organization. Whether you currently have an Amazon account or are opening a new account, visit AmazonSmile, follow the directions, and please make sure to select Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston as your designated charity.
  • Randall’s and Krogers both will give a percentage of your shopping dollars as a donation to the ICCC, if you sign up for their program. Every dollar helps us.

There are other ways that you can help the ICCC achieve its mission. Please attend our events and bring family and friends. You can purchase a sponsorship for either yourself or your company in La Voce. Honor a deceased loved one with a Mass Memorial. Sponsor a booth at next year’s Festa Italiana, the 40th Annual Houston Italian Festival. Underwrite a cultural program series of a series of Language School classes. Fund one our many scholarship programs. We need your help to keep growing and moving forward.

Thank you in advance for your donation and may all of you have a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
