Newly elected ICCC Board members

Congratulations to our newly elected board memebers!

The Italian Cultural and Community Center warmly welcomes the following individuals to the 2018 Board of Directors:

Raluca Dalea is a finance professional with a background in equity research and corporate banking. She was born in Romania and has lived in the US since 1997 and in Houston for the past 10 years. She has always had an interest in Italian culture due to her Latin roots. In Houston, she has participated in various cultural experiences that the ICCC has offered and became a member to increase her support for the organization. She has a passion for volunteering and brings plenty of financial, planning and management experience to the board.

Gary W. DeSerio is a retired Texas licensed attorney with over 35 years of expertise. He previously served on the ICCC Board under President Quartarro and served as President in 2001 and 2002. He also served as Past-President in 2003, 2004, and 2005. He had a deep of understanding of the ICCC’s needs and plans to contribute to its continued success.

Bernard Marino has been a member of the Board of Directors for the past three years and served as Secretary in 2017. He has been involved with the ICCC in numerous ways, including sponsoring and managing the Italian Cookie Booth and the Houston Italian Festival for two years, working in various other booths over the past 12 years, and volunteering his time for ICCC activities. He is determined to advance, celebrate, and preserve Italian culture and heritage.

Mark G. Parenti is an Italian citizen and third generation Italian-American. His entire family are active members of the center, where they regularly attend language classes, volunteer in the language school for kids, and attend ICCC events. He is an attorney and practice appellate law in a firm with his wife. He has been involved in multiple leadership positions over the years, including in Boy Scout’s and his college alumni association. He has enjoyed connecting with his Italian roots and culture and is looking forward to giving back to the community and deepening his involvement with the ICCC.

Peter Scalzitti is the grandson of Italian immigrants who came to American in the early 1900s. He was raised in Houston and has been involved in all aspects of his family businesses for the past 20 years. He and his wife, Flavia, have been active members and volunteers with the ICCC in 2017 and enjoy travelling to Italy as often as possible to visit family and friends.
