The Italian Cultural & Community Center is a non-profit organization, established in 1982, whose mission is to advance, celebrate and preserve Italian culture and heritage for all Houstonians through educational, cultural and social programs. The proceeds from the Gala help support these multiple programs as well as the Center’s La Scuola d’Italiano (the Italian language school for adults and children); the scholarship fund and the preservation of the home of the Italian Cultural & Community Center which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and designated a City of Houston Landmark. At this year’s Gala, we will spotlight the Italian Influence in the field of Engineering by recognizing members of the engineering community who are of Italian descent and whose personal and professional achievements exemplify character, leadership, community service, and the Italian spirit.

Those of Italian descent share a unique and magnificent heritage that spans hundreds of years. It is a heritage that has roots in low, science, architecture, music, a staggering array of masterpieces and much more. We are blessed to bear the fruits of our ancestors’ labors and it is our individual responsibility to carry the torch that bears the flame of our cultural identity so that others can share in the culture and heritage that we cherish. This is why the mission of the Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston is to advance, celebrate and preserve Italian culture and heritage for all people regardless of ethnic origin.
